ISC and its partners organised the 9th edition of the Science Summit around the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) on 12-29 September 2023.
The role and contribution of science to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be the central theme of the Summit. The objective is to develop and launch science collaborations to demonstrate global science mechanisms and activities to support the attainment of the UN SDGs, Agenda 2030 and Local2030. The meeting will also prepare input for the United Nations Summit of the Future, which will take place during UNGA79 beginning on 12 September 2024.

Since 2021, Theresa Köbe has been working at the DLR Project Management Agency in the division of Global Health with a focus on Africa. As a scientific officer, she is responsible for the development and implementation of research programmes. She also advises her clients on policy research topics and supports grantees throughout their funding. In particular, Dr Köbe is overseeing the funding measure “Research Networks for Health Innovations in Sub-Saharan Africa” on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). She acts as an advisor on product development partnerships and is involved in the initiative “ESSENCE on Health Research”. Dr Köbe is a biologist by training, having earned a PhD in medical science. During her post-doctoral studies at the Berlin university hospital Charité (Berlin, Germany), McGill University (Montréal, Canada), and DZNE (Dresden, Germany), she specialised in cognitive neurobiology with a focus on healthy aging and Alzheimer’s disease.
