ISC and its partners organised the 9th edition of the Science Summit around the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) on 12-29 September 2023.
The role and contribution of science to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be the central theme of the Summit. The objective is to develop and launch science collaborations to demonstrate global science mechanisms and activities to support the attainment of the UN SDGs, Agenda 2030 and Local2030. The meeting will also prepare input for the United Nations Summit of the Future, which will take place during UNGA79 beginning on 12 September 2024.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
Associate Director, Sustainability
I’m lucky to be able to combine my passion with my employment. Since 2014, I’ve led Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s (MSK) Sustainability Program, focused on managing the team that directly implements the projects, programs, initiatives, technologies, procedures, and measurements that create short and long-term value for the institution and its stakeholders. MSK’s strategies and priorities are driven by a multi-tiered sustainability structure to balance comprehensive environmental, social, and economic stewardship efforts.

During my time here, MSK has received 7 consecutive Top 25 Environmental Excellence Awards from Practice Greenhealth and over 50 related awards for leadership in healthcare sustainability. The institution has received numerous awards and recognitions for leadership in industry waste management and reduction, climate mitigation, energy efficiency, safer chemicals, water conservation, environmentally preferred purchasing, green building, food and nutrition, and community benefit efforts.

I’m closely involved in multiple forums to advance sustainability in the healthcare industry and in my community, serving on national advisory councils and cohorts, while participating in various round tables comprised of peer institutions, healthcare companies, NGO’s, and thought leaders. Before joining MSK, I worked in roles as a consultant advancing sustainability and ESG strategies, product/packaging stewardship, and regulatory compliance for global CPG companies, NGO’s, non-profits, and municipalities. I’m committed to a career creating and providing services and solutions that reduce the environmental impacts of business operations, minimize risk, and create revenue through environmental stewardship, social equity, regulatory compliance, modern sustainability, and better business practices.
