ISC and its partners organised the 9th edition of the Science Summit around the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) on 12-29 September 2023.
The role and contribution of science to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be the central theme of the Summit. The objective is to develop and launch science collaborations to demonstrate global science mechanisms and activities to support the attainment of the UN SDGs, Agenda 2030 and Local2030. The meeting will also prepare input for the United Nations Summit of the Future, which will take place during UNGA79 beginning on 12 September 2024.

Sonia Oliveira holds a Master’s in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a Licenciatura (BSC + Hons) in Biology (pre-Bologna) from the University of Aveiro and, is a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Human Physiology since 2018 from The University of Newcastle (Australia), with Licence in Research Animal Training Scheme by The University of Newcastle. She is a Researcher at the University of Aveiro - CICECO (Aveiro Institute of Materials) and a Researcher at the Hunter Medical Research Institute (Australia). Published over 20 articles in journals, wrote 2 book chapters, and edited 1 book. Organized over 10 events and participated in over 70 event(s). Supervised and co-supervised MSc dissertation(s) and work(s) of course completion. And lecture(d) and tutor(ed) different UCs including biochemistry, genetics, anatomy, and clinical microbiology. Works in the area(s) of Biological Sciences and Molecular Biology, and in Medical and Health Sciences, with emphasis on Basic Medicine, Neurosciences, Toxicology, and Medical Biotechnology. She is part of the World Union of Herbal & Drug Discovery (WUHeDD) consortium and holds different international collaborations.
