Emma Kleiner is a current University of Maryland, Baltimore Campus Post-Baccalaureate Researcher at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. She is currently studying highly ionized galaxies with Dr. Antara Basu-Zych. Kleiner graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.S. in Astronomy and Physics and a minor in Public Leadership. She began her astrophysics research with molecular clouds and has since gone on to study X-ray binaries, active galactic nuclei (AGN), and star formation in interacting galaxies with Swift X-ray data. Her current research on highly ionized galaxies is the next step in her goal to better understand the link between star formation and galaxy evolution. Her passions have expanded to include the preservation of heritage in space. Emma has previously interned for Dr. Marlène M. Losier where she researched how the advancement of technologies and exploration both in deep ocean waters and space affects ethical and established international law principles. She is now volunteering with For All Moonkind by researching major international scientific achievements that have contributed to humanity’s first step on the Moon. She is thankful to be given the opportunity to help in the effort to preserve human heritage.
