The session will provide the audience with insights into the key knowledge and governance gaps around making well-informed decisions on SRM and explore how those gaps might be addressed. The session will begin with keynote presentations identifying some of the key gaps and provide examples of how they are working to address them, including:
• Knowledge gaps: what knowledge is needed to inform SRM governance and how the Degrees Initiative is strengthening global south research into SRM impacts.
• Analytical gaps: how to better understand the risks faced in a future with or without SRM and how a risk-risk assessment framework might help.
• Stakeholder engagement gaps: who needs to be involved in governance discussions and how to ensure these discussions are more inclusive.
• Institutional gaps: what are the roles of different actors to put in place robust and comprehensive governance frameworks
The session will continue with discussion by an expert panel representing a variety of experiences and perspectives. Panelists will reflect on the gaps identified in the earlier presentations, and discuss how they might be addressed, identifying possible opportunities for learning and capacity building collaborations to address the gaps identified, including the institutional gaps. The panel discussion will then open for a broader question-and-answer session with the audience.
