ISC and its partners will organise the 9th edition of the Science Summit around the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) on 12-29 September 2023.
The role and contribution of science to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be the central theme of the Summit. The objective is to develop and launch science collaborations to demonstrate global science mechanisms and activities to support the attainment of the UN SDGs, Agenda 2030 and Local2030. The meeting will also prepare input for the United Nations Summit of the Future, which will take place during UNGA79 beginning on 12 September 2024.

Registration
You can see the programme without registering but to JOIN any Virtual or In-Person session you need to register. Registration will allow you to select the sessions you want to attend. Only by selecting the session, you will see the button link to access the Video Stream.

To select a session click on the white circle near the session title. By doing that, you will be creating your own schedule called "My schedule". Once you have selected your sessions, see your schedule by hovering over your profile picture and selecting “My Schedule”.

The programme contains around 300 science sessions on how to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. It is advised to filter them by Type, Date, Venue and Virtual/In-Person to help identifying the sessions you want to attend. 

The session capacity is unlimited for Virtual sessions. For In-Person sessions the limit is set up individually in each session.

In this session, we will explore the awareness and university impulse of the last years, starting with the challenge of the changing climate, the relationship with the environment for good health and well-being in communities in Mexico, approaching from comprehensive holistic education that, those involved raise awareness and encourage collaboration to achieve the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Agenda 2030 and Local2030.

During the session, we will analyze in depth the aforementioned topics, with expert colleagues in various fields, policymakers, national and international research to share their experiences and knowledge on sustainable development, university education, environmental impact, health, humanities, science, ecology, communication, systems and technological innovation that help the health and well-being of communities.

In addition, we will address increasingly complex health and wellness issues; after, we will continuing with the role of comprehensive holistic university education to prepare students of health sciences; followed by experiences in commitment and collaboration between University-Government-Hospitals-Companies-society; we will proceeding with the positive results of the systemic impact in communities at the local, regional, global level; ending, with success stories of holistic thinking in inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration within the framework of the SDGs.

We invite you to discover, how? Through education in health sciences, we raise awareness and promote the UN SDGs to improve the health and well-being of communities in Mexico.

En esta sesión exploraremos la concientización y el impulso universitario de los últimos años, partiendo del desafío del cambio climático, la relación con el medio ambiente para la buena salud y el bienestar de las comunidades de México, acercándonos desde una educación holística integral que, los involucrados generen conciencia y fomenten la colaboración para alcanzar los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de las Naciones Unidas (ONU), la Agenda 2030 y Local2030.

Durante la sesión analizaremos en profundidad los temas antes mencionados, con colegas expertos en diversos campos, formuladores de políticas, investigación nacional e internacional para compartir sus experiencias y conocimientos sobre desarrollo sostenible, educación universitaria, impacto ambiental, salud, humanidades, ciencia, ecología, comunicación, sistemas e innovación tecnológica que mejora la salud y el bienestar de comunidades.

Además, abordaremos cuestiones de salud y bienestar cada vez más complejas; luego continuaremos con el rol de la educación universitaria integral para preparar a los estudiantes de la Universidad de Guadalajara; seguido de experiencias de compromiso y colaboración entre Universidad-Gobierno-Hospitales-Empresas-Sociedad; avanzaremos con los resultados positivos del impacto sistémico en las comunidades a nivel local, regional, global; finalizando con casos de éxito de pensamiento holístico en colaboración inter y transdisciplinaria en el marco de los ODS.
