Research administration involves a diverse array of interconnected responsibilities, including legal and financial planning and compliance. However, modern technologies are not universally leveraged to enable administrators to support the ever-evolving complexity of international research collaboration. This session will aim to highlight the growing importance of research management in international research projects and show how advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, can be used to build the capacity of research managers to support multilateral, international research projects crucial to the attainment of UN SDGs

Abstract:
The Session will share examples from US universities currently deploying AI and other technology in setting up pre-award and post-award contributing to building institutional research and innovation capacity. The proposed session will use a collaborative and interactive presentation engaging participants to address challenges in research administration and management and how these challenges can be improved by the use of advance technology and professional skills of research managers in all aspects of the grant life cycle, and by assisting universities to be more successful in their research and innovation endeavors. The session will showcase examples and processes from universities who have successfully transitioned to technology-based research administration, which help institutions conceptualize the process and be able to lead future development of new or revised policies, procedures, and management structures via AI and advanced technology.
