ISC and its partners organised the 9th edition of the Science Summit around the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) on 12-29 September 2023.
The role and contribution of science to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be the central theme of the Summit. The objective is to develop and launch science collaborations to demonstrate global science mechanisms and activities to support the attainment of the UN SDGs, Agenda 2030 and Local2030. The meeting will also prepare input for the United Nations Summit of the Future, which will take place during UNGA79 beginning on 12 September 2024.

Our session aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the transformative experiences and perspectives of individuals participating in the UNITAR Global Diplomacy Fellowship program. By exploring the insights from both UNITAR Fellows and teaching faculty, we will gain valuable knowledge on the significance of empowering future diplomatic leaders and their role in shaping the world. The presentation will commence with an introduction to the importance of global diplomacy in today's interconnected world. It will highlight the challenges nations face and the need for effective diplomatic leadership to foster cooperation and address global issues.

Through engaging narratives and firsthand accounts, we will delve into the experiences of UNITAR Fellows who have undergone the Global Diplomacy Fellowship program. These exceptional individuals will share their personal journeys, challenges encountered, and successes achieved in the realm of global diplomacy. Their stories will showcase the program's impact in empowering them as effective diplomats and agents of change.
Furthermore, we will hear from experienced teaching faculty who have mentored and guided the UNITAR Fellows throughout their journey. They will provide valuable perspectives on the importance of nurturing and supporting future diplomatic leaders, emphasizing the crucial role they play in shaping the future of global diplomacy.

By combining the insights of both the Fellows and teaching faculty, this presentation will provide a holistic understanding of the current state and potential future directions of global diplomacy. It will explore emerging challenges, opportunities, and the need for empowered leaders to navigate complex international dynamics.
