ISC and its partners organised the 9th edition of the Science Summit around the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) on 12-29 September 2023.
The role and contribution of science to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be the central theme of the Summit. The objective is to develop and launch science collaborations to demonstrate global science mechanisms and activities to support the attainment of the UN SDGs, Agenda 2030 and Local2030. The meeting will also prepare input for the United Nations Summit of the Future, which will take place during UNGA79 beginning on 12 September 2024.

Highly skilled in various computer languages and applications, including R, SQL, large-scale databases. Proficient in information synthesis, scientific medical writing, critical appraisal of research output, problem solving, grant proposals writing and evaluation. Authored more than 100 publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals cited by 60,000+ peers, numerous internal reports and presentations.

Used to be the coordinator of a nationwide registry team that for 15 years collected individual-level and administrative-level information from medical facilities treating almost 40,000 persons in order to monitor service delivery, inequalities in treatment provision, drug availability, treatment quality, and patient survival. In the recent period, a substantial part of my work is dedicated to real-world data analysis for the estimation of disease burden, quality of health services, related healthcare resources utilization and cost in an Italian region with 10 million inhabitants, with the focus on patient outcomes and geographical differences. Based on my experience, I have been invited to join the Global Burden of Disease Study, in which I mainly contributed to the estimates of chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, UHC, as well as their behavioral, nutritional and metabolic risk factors.
